Speed Systems Insulation Stripper Tool With Wedge Blade Installed & Spare Straight Blade 1542-2CL

A very popular choice for removing insulation from high voltage cables, designed for use on PE, XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene), and ERP (ethylene propylene rubber) insulations.  Easily adjust this tool to work on cables with an outside dimension of ½” to 1-3/4”. Adjust the blade depth and angle, then turn the tool around the cable to spiral-cut the insulation away from the conductor. The tool comes with a wedge blade installed for use on XLPE insulation. A storage compartment on the underside of the tool includes a straight blade for EPR insulations. A tool stop guide is included and helps measure cut-back lengths.

Larger Diameter cables and thicker insulation (i.e. higher voltage cable) especially XLP will cause increasing difficulty in the use of the 1542 series tool. Therefore, it is recommended that the tool be used on the following cables:
KV Class / Conductor Size
5kV / 1000 MCM and smaller
15kV / 750 MCM and smaller
25kV / 350 MCM and smaller
35kV / 3/0 and smaller

Replacement blade 1581 is for EPR insulation. Replacement blade 1562 is for XLP insulation.
